It’s been a while since I shared a Friday’s Fave Five post, so thought I’d pop in with one today. The overarching theme of the week around here has been wind. It kept me indoors and away from my backyard garden sanctuary—disappointing, yes—but with a little intention I’m sure I can come up with five gifts from the past week.
Our neighbourhood. It’s a young one, and it’s delightful to see kids playing outside. One evening, I spied a forgotten scooter on the sidewalk across the street. It was still there the next morning and gratitude sparked because I know that in far too many areas it would have been long gone by morning.
My doctor. A mixed blessing, this one. I had occasion to see my doctor this week to refill a prescription. It was arguably one of the quickest appointments I’ve had with any doctor in my whole life. My prescriptions were sent to the pharmacy, which is what I was there for, but “just enough” is the M.O. with this practitioner who told me the first time I saw him that he specializes in men (!). Finding a doctor is next to impossible so I’m grateful to have one, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still shopping around.
Home days. The fitness center Gerry and I go to was closed for annual maintenance this week and, as I’ve already mentioned, it was too windy to do much outside (for me, anyway). We spent cozy afternoons at home with mugs of tea, books on our Kindles, and a Yorkie going back and forth between laps.
A birthday. Our sweet Yorkie, Molly, turns one today! When I think back over the first months of puppy-hood I still feel exhausted! It has been a sweet time watching our girl grow and change and explore the world. Happy Birthday to Molly!
National Donut Day. We marked the day by enjoying maple and bacon donuts from a local bakery. Dee-licious. (And no calories on a national holiday. 🙂 )
Heading out this afternoon with our grown-up cameras to see what we can see. Happy Friday, all!
