A Simple, But Productive, Saturday

It’s late Saturday afternoon as I write this. Gerry and I have had a busy day. First thing this morning, I finally organized my art area, thanks to the new cabinets he assembled yesterday. After that, we puttered and organized our downstairs storage rooms, and came away feeling like we had really accomplished something.

Then we had a couple of errands to run downtown. We stopped at Rona for something Gerry needed to fix a closet door. I waited in the car with the window down and listened to the trickle of melting snow drip into a grate in the parking lot. It sounded an awful lot like spring.

From there, we took a drive. The peace I feel on the prairie is like nothing else. I love this land and this province so much.

Maybe it was the calm I took from the prairie scenery, but I got to thinking about floating. There’s no place here in Moose Jaw, so I scoped out what’s available in nearby Regina. I think a trip there to float is in the cards for me soon.

Reading, ordering pizza for supper, and taking it easy is the recipe for the rest of the day. Makiya comes tomorrow after church, and Gerry’s heading out at the end of the week to spend a few days back in Kamloops. It’s going to be a busy week, making this peaceful Saturday afternoon all the sweeter.

(Next Saturday will mark three years since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. My new book, Living Liminal: A Slice of Pandemic Life releases that day. More later on that.)

  1. Congratulations on organizing your art space so well. . . and on the new book!

  2. Your new art space looks so welcoming for a creative artist. Lots of space. Our kids got me a beautiful white cabinet with barn doors for Christmas to organize and hide all my writing stuff. I love reading your posts. They’re so calming and always make me slow down and enjoy the little things like 2 squirrels in a heated debate outside my window. Looking forward to your new book.

    Your art space looks great.

Hopefully the snow that is being forecast does not happen.

    God bless
