Summer Plans

Posted on May 10, 2023 by Linda

I liken May to January as a month of making plans and setting intentions.

Apart from gardening plans (which are slow in coming as I wait to see what surprises will be revealed in new yard), I like to make personal writing, reading, and other creative plans.

I envision lazy afternoons spent in the new deck chair I found after years of searching in the company of good books. Silent mornings spent tapping out words on my MacBook about both surface and deeper things. Pockets of time spent in the coolness of downstairs at my computer processing photos—and, by definition, rich moments spent looking through the lens of my Canon capturing images of the prairie (I can’t wait to pull out my big girl camera again!).

I eschew busyness in the summer, except for the sometimes-frantic pace of canning and freezing seasonal bounty. Weeks at a busy resort? No thanks. Rooted at home? Count me in. This year, more than ever, I look forward to staying home on the prairie and exploring with Gerry. He has a couple of backpacks planned with his hiking friends from Kamloops which translates into solitude and silence for me, so there’s a healthy balance of both. We also look forward to visits with friends and family.

Summer is such a sweet and fleeting time. What are your plans?

I’ll be sending out monthly-ish posts with curated and updated posts from the archives of this blog mixed with new rumination on grace, faith, and thin places where these things touch everyday life.

Hi, I’m Linda Hoye. Welcome! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my husband and our Yorkie, Molly. Retired from my corporate career, I appreciate having time and opportunity to fill my days with things that nourish my soul and spirit like writing. watercolour painting, reading, gardening, and blogging about the simple joys of every day. I’ve been blogging since 2008, starting fresh here in 2022 when we moved home to Saskatchewan. May this space be a sanctuary in a very noisy world. 😊
