They are the cutest little things. And they appeared—as if by magic—in our backyard earlier this week. But of course it wasn’t magic, and the only logical explanation is that they were born here. Somewhere. Somehow. By some bunny.
They don’t belong in our backyard. Molly is beside herself. “This is what my terrier self was made for,” I can almost hear her say. And I’m growing green things for us, not for rabbits. So, we’re on a mission to encourage them to move on. It’s been quite a week.
We were flummoxed at first, unsure how to handle the interlopers. Once the initial surprise wore off and we got down to business, we managed to encourage five furry fellows to vacate the premises over the course of a few days, including one this morning that Gerry caught and carried gently to the field across the street.
A little research tells me that the usual litter size is six. If that’s true in this case, and assuming none of the evictees have returned, there’s one lone bunny left in our yard. There’s a monsoon coming down at the moment, and likely for the rest of the day. Bunny hunting will resume when it stops.
We’re all looking forward to returning to regularly scheduled programming.
Just sprinkle chilli powder or red pepper flakes all around the flowers and lettuce, etc you don’t bunnies chewing, and they stay away!! it’s working for me…….
