It’s Spring!

Posted on March 18, 2026March 18, 2026 by Linda

Well, almost. Two days from now, on March 20, it’ll officially be spring. Anyone else doing a happy dance? I have filed our tax returns, the geranium seeds I planted last week have sprouted, and we’re closing in on Palm Sunday and Easter. It kind of creeps up on a person, doesn’t it?

I’m just in from the back yard where it’s presently 14C. There’s still a pile of snow on the lower deck, but it won’t be there long. Gerry and I stood on the upper deck for a while and chatted about plans for this year’s garden and, man, did those few minutes feel good. Nothing’s growing out there yet, but I can feel myself coming back to life.

I’ve been sequestered in my woman cave for the past few days obsessing over dabbling with a writing project. I don’t know where I’m going with it, if anywhere, but it has felt good to muck around with something. If it’s going to be a “thing”, I’d like it to have legs before gardening season kicks off but we’ll see.

Our local garden center opened on Monday. I haven’t visited yet (see above re: obsessively writing), but will soon, because it’s one of those rites of passage this time of year as we kick winter to the curb.

It was above freezing when Molly and I got up this morning and I debated about whether or not to turn the faux fireplace on my my woman cave. I did, mainly for the ambiance while reading and writing, but it won’t be long before I stop doing so.

Oh, and remember that travel nightmare I experienced in early February? I submitted a claim to the airline, according to the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR), and received notification that they accept responsibility and I’m entitled to (fairly significant, in my eyes) compensation. It arrived in my bank account today.

This is turning into a rambling post. Trust you understand. All signs point toward spring and it’s hard not to be excited about it!

Okay if I share another seasonal photo?

I am so looking forward to seeing all the snow leave the yard. There will be a few areas that take much longer because of the shade. Our garden still has patches of ice on it, but I am gradually seeing more and more dirt.

    God bless.

Hi, I’m Linda Hoye. Welcome! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my husband and our Yorkie, Molly. Retired from my corporate career, I appreciate having time and opportunity to fill my days with things that nourish my soul and spirit like writing. watercolour painting, reading, gardening, and blogging about the simple joys of every day. I’ve been blogging since 2008, starting fresh here in 2022 when we moved home to Saskatchewan. May this space be a sanctuary in a very noisy world. 😊
