Little Things

I’m just home from dropping Makiya back at school after taking her to her appointment with the orthodontist. Right on cue, it has started to snow. Blowing, drifting snow that makes me happy I’m cozy here at home and not on the highway to or from Caronport. Little things make me thankful.

Like the quick bite of lunch my granddaughter and I enjoyed before her appointment.

Smiles, laughter, and inside jokes we share when we’re together.

A warm coat, boots, and gloves.

The cozy pajamas I put on as soon as I got home.

The heated seats in my car.

A quick drive past the house I grew up in before I picked Makiya up at school.

A kitchen sink that should be running smoothly after another visit from the plumber while I was out.

Popsicles that soothe my still-sore throat (enough of this already!).

Leftovers in the freezer that make a quick supper for Gerry who is heading out to play pickleball this evening.

Borrowing ebooks from the library to read on my Kobo.

The weekend forecast (hint: it’s warming up!).

The gentleman who did the home inspection of our place here in Moose Jaw before we arrived. He’s been so helpful in recommending tradespeople to do some finishing work. (Have I told you that we bought this house before we ever stepped foot inside? I’m thankful for our realtor who made it happen for us!)

Mother/daughter coffee dates.

Saskatchewan sunshine.

Hot tea.

Candles.

Cozy socks.

Sherpa blankets.

A warm pup curled up on the sofa next to me.

Just a whole bunch of little things joined together to make the simple, quiet life I’m grateful for. Priceless.

  1. Ally Bean sent me. The small things become so precious as we get older. I love coffee dates too. Although I thought heated seats were stupid, I now wouldn’t have a car without them. 🙂

  2. Ally Bean sent me. As I get older, I treasure the small things more and more. I love coffee dates! I originally thought heated seats were dumb and now I wouldn’t have a car without them. (sorry if this is a duplicate comment-my other one disappeared)
