Now There Are Three Of Us (and a Yorkie)

Posted on March 29, 2023 by Linda

Our daughter pulled out early this morning, driving a U-Haul and towing her car, heading for B.C. and a new job. There were tears, long hugs, and bittersweet gratitude. Now there are three of us living in this home, as our granddaughter settles in to stay with us for a time.

We’re back to early morning and afternoon drives to Caronport, school lunches, and later nights waiting up for a teenager attending youth group. More laundry, food, noise, conversation, laughter (lots more laughter!), and gratitude for having time and resources to share with this young woman. It’s a new season.

In other news, our sweet Maya is recovering from a dental procedure yesterday. I was concerned beforehand as she’s 15-years-old, but she came through like the champion she is. She was quite put out at not being able to have breakfast before we took her to the vet and made up for it when she got home by eating a good meal despite, what must be, discomfort in her little mouth from where they extracted three teeth. After a good night’s sleep, she’s back to her old self and making it known that she does not like the syringes of medication she has to take one bit.

So, all is well in our world. A little different for the time being, but very well indeed.

Your grand-daughter will keep you in touch with the younger generation–and young at heart!

She certainly keeps us in touch with things outside our comfortable senior citizen lifestyle! It’s a blessing all around.

Hi, I’m Linda Hoye. Welcome! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my husband and our Yorkie, Molly. Retired from my corporate career, I appreciate having time and opportunity to fill my days with things that nourish my soul and spirit like writing. watercolour painting, reading, gardening, and blogging about the simple joys of every day. I’ve been blogging since 2008, starting fresh here in 2022 when we moved home to Saskatchewan. May this space be a sanctuary in a very noisy world. 😊
