Friday’s Fave Five – April 17

Posted on April 17, 2026 by Linda

It’s spring. Isn’t it? ISN’T IT? Would someone please clue Mother Nature in. I’m joking, of course. Yes, it’s spring and here in Saskatchewan we’re just experiencing the push-pull into it. All will be well. All is well. Joining with Susanne to look back at some sweet things from the past week.

When I was at Superstore one day, I noticed that the outdoor garden center space on the other side of the parking lot has been set up and, best of all, there are a couple of trailers nearby that I’m betting contain plants! Can’t wait for the opportunity to browse.

Spent a glorious bit of time sitting on the back deck with a book on Tuesday afternoon when it was 20C. This photo was taken yesterday. (See above comment about the push-pull toward spring.)

My tomato plants are up. They’re the last seeds I planted downstairs, far later than previous years. Still adjusting to the change in the gardening season here in Saskatchewan compared to B.C.

Gerry put insurance on the 1931 Model A and has been puttering around on it in the garage. I count this as one of my favourites because it makes him happy. He’s a man who doesn’t often do something for himself, and I love that he decided to buy this car last year.

I shifted things around in the woman cave this week and pulled out my needle felting supplies. It’s been a long time since I made anything, but found the poke-poke process just as relaxing as it used to be. for me. Some little projects on the go now.

Can I add another? Of course I can. I’m the boss around here! We’ve moved past the tulip stage of spring and I bought these pretty alstroemeria flowers for the dining table instead. One day I captured a top down image of them that sparked joy.

The storm has passed and we’re on to bigger and better things like SPRING. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve said “okay, I think that’s the last one” about rogue snowstorms this year. I think that’s it now. For real, this time.

You’re past the tulip stage already and have snow???!!!
We’ve had no snow for a month yet my tulips are JUST beginning to open. They might open today or tomorrow from the looks of them. I sprinkled cayenne pepper around them to keep bunny out. He got to some before I thought to do so!

A nice week of blessings despite your snow! Spring sure is fickle. it even felt like summer here in eastern NYS most of the week. Yesterday was 83!! Me? I prefer 65-80. HA!

Love that car!! Do you get to go on drives in it? The alstroemeria photo is beautiful.

Hi, I’m Linda Hoye. Welcome! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my husband and our Yorkie, Molly. Retired from my corporate career, I appreciate having time and opportunity to fill my days with things that nourish my soul and spirit like writing. watercolour painting, reading, gardening, and blogging about the simple joys of every day. I’ve been blogging since 2008, starting fresh here in 2022 when we moved home to Saskatchewan. May this space be a sanctuary in a very noisy world. 😊
