Joining in with Joyce and the Hodgepodge crew today to talk about something wonderful—spring!

1. It’s officially spring in the northern hemisphere. Does it feel like spring in your part of the world? If you’re in the southern hemisphere it’s officially autumn where you live. Does the weather say autumn? Which do you prefer-spring or autumn? Why?
It’s starting to feel like spring in fits and starts because Saskatchewan can be unpredictable at this time of year.
2. What’s your favorite thing about spring?
I can’t pick just one thing. Warmer weather. Sunshine and, yes, rain. Flowers blooming. Birds returning and gracing us with their songs. Getting the garden going. Neighbourhood kids playing outside. And soon, pulling out capris and putting away long pants until pumpkin spice season rolls around again.
3. Spring into action, spring in your step, spring to life, spring to one’s feet…which spring idiom currently applies to your life in some way? Explain.
I feel like I’m springing to life with more energy and motivation for things, as well as the hope and optimism that always shows up at this time of year.
4. Which spring food from this list is your favorite? What’s a dish you like that includes your favorite spring ingredient? asparagus, strawberries, salad greens like mesclun, artichokes, spinach, eggs, peas, spring onions
Spinach salad. That first fresh-picked spinach of spring always tastes the sweetest and a raspberry vinaigrette brings it to life.
5. What’s one task on your spring cleaning list? Do you actually have a list?
Uh, no. Should I? I freshen things up by switching out bedding, cushions and throws, and decor to give things a spring-like flair, but that’s about it.
6. Insert your own random thought here.

I appreciate these words from Robert Benson in his book Dancing on the Head of a Pen: The Practice of a Writing Life.
“Solitude is likely necessary to be in touch with the things deep inside you. Silence may be required for you to hear what those things are saying to you. Do not be afraid to be quiet. Never be afraid to be alone.”

I don’t mind the rain in the spring as it helps everything grow! There is so much to love about this time of year.
I like a spinach salad too. I usually add strawberries to mine and make a poppy seed dressing, but will have to try spinach with a raspberry vinaigrette which also sounds yummy. Have a great day!
The best thing about spring is it arrives in a completely different way every year. This year it seems like spring comes and goes. In for snow here tonight and tomorrow.
God bless.
It’s been snowing everyday in my town since the official day of Spring arrived! I may have to look at reading Benson’s book as I tend not be comfortable in silence and fill the air with at least a radio tuned into a music station. But I’d like to be….Thanks for sharing it here.
Spring is so fickle here. Yesterday it was 87 degrees F, and I don’t think we’ll reach 50 today. The book looks like a good one!
Oh my gosh, the colors of those flowers right up top took my breath away, Linda! I’m longing for every bit of green and yellow and pink I can spot outside these days. I am loving every bit of sunshine and blue skies that’s coming our way.
Easter week blessings to you, friend.
