Murphy

January 7, 2020 – December 29, 2022

My sweet boy, Murphy, died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was a tiny dog with special needs—fragile in many ways and mighty in others. No one could have predicted how long Murphy would live. However long, it would have not been enough. He was well loved and loving, filling our home with his tiny presence during his all too brief life.

Murphy was a one person dog, and I was his person. He was my constant companion, logging many steps following me around the house every day, never letting me out of his sight. He was a snuggler. When he wasn’t following me, he was either in my lap or sleeping with his tiny head tucked in the crook of my neck.

He was a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. His official name was Tweedsmuir Murphy’s Law Hoye. To me, he was Buddy, Sweet Boy, Little Man, Murph. Murphy. We will miss him so.

My heart is broken this morning.

I’m a writer, reader, and creative. I thought by now I’d have things figured out, but I keep coming up with more questions. I think that’s okay. I’m here most mornings pondering ordinary things and the thin places where faith intersects.

  1. Oh Linda my heart is breaking with you.

  2. Oh, Linda, I’m so sorry. Our pups bring us so much joy. And it is so very hard to lose them.

  3. Oh, Linda, my heart is breaking along with yours. Whether canine or feline, our pets become like family members. When they breathe their last, our heart signs and we grieve. Thinking of you, dear friend.

  4. Oh my I did not expect this so soon. You have my heartfelt sympathy Linda. We both agreed Murphy was special and would have special needs but you are so special too for loving the little man, taking on the challenge knowing your heart may be broken, and giving Murphy the best of care. Murphy found you for a reason. You gave him a wonderful life in his short time here. As a breeder you can’t predict how long they will be with us but I always hope for whatever time they are that they will have the best life filled with lots of love… I know 110% Murphy had all that. Sad he couldn’t have enjoyed it longer.
